Youth Programs 2008- Advanced/Team Racing

Session Dates:
Session One:   June 24 – July 3   (Tues – Fri  week one; Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, week two)

Session Two:  July 8 – 18  (Tuesday – Friday each week)

Session Three:  July 22 – August 1  (Tuesday – Friday each week)

Session Four:  August 5 – 15  (Tuesday – Friday each week)

Program Overview
Class will be held 5 Mondays 9:00 am - 4:00pm (bring a lunch)

This course will focus on racing skills, especially boat handling, sail trim and racing tactics. The course will use drills and games to isolate skills, which may be practiced and improved. This course is for experienced sailors who have completed both the beginner and intermediate courses and want to captain their own boat. The Junior Racing Team will be formed and some competitive racing will be done at an additional charge. This class will meet every Monday with class in the morning and racing in the afternoon.

Participants MUST know how to swim. ( A swim test will be given). Participants must supply their own Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Device. (PFD type 111 USCG approved non-inflating life jacket) US Sailing's "Start Sailing Right" book is included with the course.
