Snipe Fleet 231

Welcome to Snipe Fleet 231. We have been racing Snipe-class sailboats on Lake Quassapaug for over 55 years. Past members of our fleet have won the US Nationals and placed in the Western Hemisphere Championships. Current members compete at the local, National, North American, and Master World Championships. Every year, we host several local fleet racing series and two regional regattas.

In 2003, we hosted the US Masters Nationals and in 2006 the US Woman's Nationals.

Fun is our highest priority. Most of our teams are family members sailing together.

Snipes are sailed at the Quassapaug Sailing Center which hosts Snipe Fleet 231 and several regional regattas during the summer racing season. The Snipe is a 15-1/2, 2 person, one design racing dinghy with fleets all over the world. The board has a hard chined hull making is high performing boat upwind and will plane downwind in a breeze. As a "one design" class the boats are all generally evenly matched which makes for a tactical sailing competition, not an economic one. Hosted Snipe regattas at Quassapaug are renown for shifty, competitive sailing, excellent comradery, and family fun.
